Product details
Comfrey extract is the dried root extract of Xinjiang comfrey or Inner Mongolia comfrey, family Comfreyaceae. Comfrey is cold, sweet and salty in nature and enters the liver and heart meridians, with the efficacy of cooling blood and activating blood circulation, detoxifying and penetrating blood stasis.
Its main active ingredients are acetyl comfrey quinone, comfrey quinone, deoxy comfrey quinone and other naphthoquinone pigments. Modern pharmacological research shows that comfrey has good anti-inflammatory and antibacterial, anti-fertility, antioxidant, anti-tumour, hypoglycaemic, hepatoprotective and cardiovascular system.
Anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects are the traditional medicinal effects of comfrey, i.e., anti-inflammatory, astringent and antipyretic effects, and the anti-inflammatory components in comfrey are mainly found in the alcoholic extract.
Uses of Alkannin.
It is used as antipyretic, detoxicant and anti-inflammatory drug. Internal use to prevent measles, made into an ointment for external use can promote the generation of granulation and used for swollen ulcers, fire, frostbite, eczema, water cysts and so on. It is also used as a slow-acting agent to facilitate bowel movement.
In recent years, also used tissue culture method to produce canned shikonin, used as cosmetics. Levocetin is an enantiomeric dye extracted from comfrey and comfrey, can be used as a dye, wound healing, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-tumour and other functions.
Pharmacological Effect of Alkannin.
1. Hypoglycemic effect
Comfrey leaf extract and comfrey glycans (A, B, C) have obvious hypoglycemic effect.
2.Bacteriostatic effect
Comfrey extract has inhibitory effect on Keike 68-1 virus in the test tube, and it has obvious inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus albicans, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, S. typhi, Streptococcus a, Streptococcus b.
3.Effect on blood coagulation
Intraperitoneal injection given to comfrey pigment components (comfreyin, acetyl comfreyin) does not affect the blood coagulation time, but can prevent the anticoagulant effect of heparin.
4.Anti-tumour effects
Comfrey extract has some inhibitory effect on the late stage of DNA synthesis (G2 phase) in Hela cells.
5.Cancer inhibition
Comfrey extract can inhibit proliferation, promote apoptosis and induce cell cycle arrest in human choriocarcinoma-resistant cell lines (JAR/MTX) cultured in vitro. Experiments showed that the concentration of comfrey increased with the increase of the dose and the prolongation of the action time, and the inhibition of choriocarcinoma-resistant cell growth also increased significantly.
6.Effect on hormone secretion
The effect of comfrey on the function of hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal axis of pubertal female rats showed that the serum hormone level of comfrey group was significantly lower than that of the negative control group, and there was no significant difference comparing with the positive control group. It shows that comfrey has an inhibitory effect on the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis function of rats.
7. Antiviral effect
Experimental research found that levorotatory comfreyin in 6.0-0.75mg/mL can inhibit parainfluenza virus on the chicken embryo cell pathogenicity; comfrey can inhibit the replication of multi-drug-resistant HIV virus strains; comfrey polysaccharides with in vitro inhibition of HPV-DNA activity, there is a significant anti-human papillomavirus effect.
8.Anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects
The aqueous and alcoholic extracts of Comfrey have certain anti-inflammatory effect, and can reduce the swelling of mouse ear caused by xylene; it has inhibitory effect on specific allergic reaction, and can inhibit the release of histamine from rat peritoneal mast cells with dose-dependence.
9.Hepatoprotective effect
Comfrey extract has a protective effect on D-galactosamine-induced liver injury, can significantly inhibit D-galactosamine-induced liver injury in mice alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), malondialdehyde (MDA) increase and superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) decrease.
10. Others
The petroleum ether and chloroform extracts of Comfrey not only significantly inhibit lard oxidation, effectively scavenge free radicals, and have strong reducing ability, but also participate in redox reactions.
Product method of Bulk Alkannin Powder.
It is found in the roots of Comfrey, family Comfreyaceae, Xinjiang Comfrey and other plants. It can also be produced from cell culture of comfrey.
