Quercetin is widely found in angiosperms, such as red pipe medicine, cat's-eye grass, iron, red, small-leaved loquat, purple azalea, Zhaoshan white, dwarf tea, rooibos contain, this is a kind of glycoside, this kind of glycoside is often combined with the sugar in the form of glycosides such as quercetin, rutin, ginkgolide, and so on.

Uses of Quercetin.

A flavonoid with anticancer activity, mitochondrial ATPase and phosphodiesterase inhibitor, inhibits PI3 kinase activity and slightly inhibits PIP kinase activity, IC50:3.8 μM.Antiproliferative effect on cancer cell lines, reduces cancer cell growth via type II estrogen receptor and blocks human leukemia T cells in the late G1 phase of the cell cycle. Inhibits fatty acid synthase activity.

It has a good expectorant, cough, asthma, used in the treatment of chronic bronchitis, coronary heart disease and hypertension patients also has an auxiliary therapeutic effect.

Preparation method of Quercetin.

Accurately weighed 4.00g of refined rutin (about 2.69mmol) in a 500mL round-bottomed flask, added 400mL of 2% dilute sulfuric acid, and reacted at 80-90°C for 4h, TLC traced to the end of the reaction, left to stand for 4h, and then subjected to reduced-pressure filtration, and the cake was washed to neutrality with distilled water, and dried to obtain the THQ crude product. The resulting crude product was recrystallized with 400 mL of anhydrous ethanol to yield 2.41 g of yellow powder quercetin.
