Product Methods of Ethyl Vanillin.
Dissolve catechol ether and sodium hydroxide in water, gradually add chloroform, boil to remove excess chloroform, acidify the solution to precipitate resinous matter, filter, extract the residue with ether, purify with bisulfite method, and remove impurities with high-pressure steam. Dissolve protocatechualdehyde in anhydrous ethanol, add potassium hydroxide ethanol solution and sodium ethyl sulfate, and heat to 130°C in a pressure autoclave.
After removing alcohol, extract with ether, and then treat with sodium hydroxide solution to remove impurities. It is prepared by condensation of o-ethoxyphenol, p-nitrosodimethylaniline hydrochloride and hexamethylenetetramine.
