Analgesia: It has obvious analgesic effects on a variety of pain models, including electric stimulation, hot plate method, photothermal stimulation and acetic acid twisting method caused by the pain response in mice. Its pathways of action include analgesic effects on the centre and inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis and release. 

Anti-inflammatory: It can significantly reduce the increase of vascular permeability induced by 5-HT, and has obvious inhibitory effect on the swelling of the toe of rats induced by carthamus tinctorius. It has obvious improvement effect on rat adjuvant arthritis model and can significantly reduce the systemic lesions in rats.

Uses of sinomenine hydrochloride

Sedation: It can significantly reduce the spontaneous activity of mice, and has no obvious effect on the sleep time of barbiturates; it has antagonistic effect on strychnine, but cannot oppose pentamethylene tetrazolium. Dogs and monkeys orally administered with 45-95mg/kg of the drug also have obvious sedative effects, and can eliminate the ‘irritation’ reaction caused by electrical stimulation in mice. 

Cough suppressant: In mice (SO2 method) and cats (electrical stimulation of the superior laryngeal nerve method), its cough suppressant effect is similar to that of codeine. 

Antihypertensive: Injecting 0.27mg/kg of this product into dogs, it has obvious acute antihypertensive effect, and the second injection can produce rapid tolerance.
