Ribavirin Powder Usage and Synthesis.

Ribavirin has significant inhibitory effects on a variety of RNA and DNA viruses, and also has strong inhibitory effects on HIV. The mechanism of antiviral action of ribavirin has not yet been fully determined, and its mechanism of action varies for different viruses.

Ribavirin (RBV, viral azole) is a synthetic broad-spectrum antiviral drug, has been used for many years for the treatment of viral infections of choice, because of its role in the precise, inexpensive, clinically commonly used in infants, young children and adults, influenza, diarrhoea, and with interferon for the combination of various types of hepatitis treatment.

Ribavirin has a wide range of uses in medicine and is clinically effective against hepatitis A, influenza, various herpes, as well as against respiratory syncytial virus, human immunodeficiency virus, infections with epidemic haemorrhagic fever virus, and skin diseases.

Ribavirin is the only effective treatment for respiratory syncytial virus and is the drug of choice for the treatment of epidemic haemorrhagic fever.

In recent years its use in hepatitis B and C has also shown better results and in India the drug is approved for the treatment of acute hepatitis, respiratory tract infections and herpes simplex infections.

In the UK, Switzerland, Italy, the United States and other countries it is approved as a preventive drug for AIDS, and in 2003 it was used in Canada and Hong Kong as a pre-treatment drug for SARS virus.

Broad-spectrum antiviral for influenza (caused by influenza viruses A and B), adenovirus pneumonia, hepatitis A, herpes, measles, etc., with preventive and curative effects; effective against epidemic haemorrhagic fever.

It is especially effective in early stage patients.

Oral can cause diarrhoea, no other obvious toxicity, but there can be leukopenia, overdose inhibition of haemoglobin and erythrocyte maturation and lead to reversible anaemia.

Pharmacological Effects of Ribavirin.

1, ribavirin is phosphorylated in erythrocytes to generate triazole nucleoside monophosphate, diphosphate and triphosphate.

Among them, triazole nucleoside monophosphate is a strong inhibitor of inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, which can inhibit cellular guanosine monophosphate synthesis, reduce cellular guanosine monophosphate triphosphorylation, and block the synthesis of viral nucleic acids.

2, Triazole nucleoside triphosphate inhibits influenza virus RNA polymerase and interferes with virus replication.

3, Triazole nucleoside triphosphate inhibits the synthesis and transcriptase of viral mRNA 5'end, thus inhibiting DNA and RNA synthesis.

Inhibits a variety of viruses (including DNA-type viruses and RNA-type viruses). It is effective against influenza, adenovirus pneumonia, hepatitis A, herpes, measles, etc. It is also effective against epidemic haemorrhagic fever.
