Oxfendazole Powder Usage and Synthesis.

Ovendazole is a benzimidazole anthelmintic, also known as Oxyphenyldiazole, Ovfendazole, Phenylsulfinylimidazole, Phenylthioxyimidazole, is the sulfoxide form of Phenylsulfinylimidazole, is a white or off-white powder at room temperature, with a slight peculiar smell, which destroys microtubular structure of epithelial cells of gastrointestinal helminths and inhibits glucose uptake by the helminths from the intestinal tract.

Ovendazole is used for the treatment and control of adult and larval gastrointestinal worms, and is very effective in the treatment of roundworms and lungworms in pigs, cattle and sheep, including Ostertagia, Haemonchus, Trichostrongylus, Nematodirus, Cooperia, Trichostrongylus, Nematodirus and Cooperia. Cooperia), Capillaria, Oesophagostomum, Chabertia, Trichuris and Dictyocaulus.

Uses and functions of Oxfendazole.

This product is a new broad-spectrum anthelmintic, its efficacy is more than twice as high as that of benzothiabendazole. For all kinds of adult gastrointestinal nematodes of sheep, cattle and pigs, the rate of reduction is 95-100% when given at a dose of 23.5-5mg/kg.

The reduction rate for all stages of larvae is 91-98%. It is also effective against short membranous cestodes and webworms, but less effective against whipworms. This product has low toxicity and good tolerance. The LD50 of rat is more than 6400mg/kg.

Crystallisation. Melting point 253°C (decomposition). Soluble in chloroform, methanol.

Production method of  Bulk Oxfendazole Powder.

Produced by cyclisation of 5-phenylsulfinylphthalimide with 1,3-bis(methyl rubbed on carbonyl)-S-methylthioisothiourea. Yield 95%. Or produced by oxidation of benzothiobenzimidazole with hydrogen peroxide or peroxyacetic acid.
