p-Chlorobenzeneacetonitrile is an organic compound with the chemical formula C8H7ClN.This compound is more soluble in water than DDT and is the final excretion product of ingested and stored DDT in higher animals and humans. In the environment, DDT residues can be converted to p-dichlorobenzophenone. In addition, p-chlorobenzeneacetonitrile is also commonly used in organic synthesis, such as as a reagent for the synthesis of β-carbonylphosphonic acid esters, a reagent for the phosphorylation of alcohols, a coupling reagent, and a reducing reagent, etc.

P-chlorocyanobenzene, or p-chlorobenzeneacetonitrile, is an intermediate for the preparation of 3-methyl-2-(4-chlorophenyl)butyric acid, which can be used for the preparation of pyrethroid insecticides such as cypermethrin and bromothalonil, and can be used in the pharmaceutical industry for the preparation of ethylamidopyrimidine.
1. Used as the intermediate of drug ethamidopyrimidine and for the synthesis of medicine and dye.
2. p-Chlorocyanine benzyl i.e. p-chlorobenzeneacetonitrile is the intermediate for the preparation of 3-methyl-2-(4-chlorophenyl)butyric acid, which can be used for the preparation of pyrethroid insecticides such as cypermethrin and bromothalonil and can be used in the pharmaceutical industry for the preparation of ethamidopyrimidine.
3. Used in the manufacture of p-chlorobenzyl alcohol, p-chlorobenzaldehyde, p-chlorobenzeneacetonitrile, etc.
4. Intermediate for the production of the drug ethylaminopyrimidine (2,4-diamino-6-ethyl-5-p-chlorophenylpyrimidine).

Product method of Bulk 4-chlorobenzyl Cyanide Powder.
It is obtained by the reaction of p-chlorobenzyl chloride and sodium cyanide. Add p-chlorobenzyl chloride and Neosporin to the reaction pot, heat to 100 ℃, slowly add sodium cyanide aqueous solution, and react at 100-104 ℃ for 5h (add sodium cyanide for 3h, keep warm for 2h). Then add water to dissolve sodium chloride, separate the aqueous layer, get p-chlorocyanine benzyl crude product, distillation under reduced pressure, collect 160 (2.66kPa) fraction to get the finished product.
Yield 81% or more. P-chlorobenzyl chloride and sodium cyanide in ethanol at 83-85 ℃ reflux 4h, can also produce the product. The intermediate for industrial use is slightly yellow liquid, containing ≥90% p-chlorobenzyl cyanide. Raw material consumption quota: p-chlorobenzyl chloride (92%) 1432kg/t, sodium cyanide (95%) 450kg/t, neosporin (more than 90%) 18kg/t.
