Alpha Chymotrypsin Powder Usage and Synthesis.

A serine protease that hydrolyses peptide bonds with aromatic or long hydrophobic chains (Tyr, Trp, Phe, Met) at the carboxyl terminus of the peptide bond.

Note: Used for protein hydrolysis in the absence of exogenous trypsin activity.

Uses and functions of Alpha Chymotrypsin.

α-Chymotrypsin acts as a proteolytic enzyme. It is generally used for post-surgical wound or trauma healing, anti-inflammation and prevention of local blood accumulation, oedema, sprain haematoma, local swelling after breast surgery, rhinitis and otitis media. Used for cataract removal, loosening the ciliary muscle ligament to reduce membrane rupture and retinal damage.

However, an allergy test should be done before use, not static injection, the injection site can be intermittent pain and swelling, intramuscular injection can occasionally cause anaphylactic shock, can also cause moderate uveitis, corneal oedema and temporary glaucoma.

It is contraindicated in patients with severe liver disease, abnormal coagulation function, traumatic cataract patients with vitreous immobility and patients under 20 years old. Cataract extraction; with 1/5000 saline solution rinse, injected into the posterior chamber from the pupil, after 2 ~ 3min, after the crystal floating, with saline rinse, you can remove the lens.

Intramuscular injection, 5mg per time, 1～2 times a day, wet mist or spray: 5mg per day, aerosol therapy, 0.2～0.3mg per time (add 2～3ml of distilled water), 3～4 times a day; tracheal drip, formulated into a solution containing 0.5mg of the product per ml, and dripped in the appropriate amount.

Physiological Effect of Alpha Chymotrypsin.

It can cut off the peptide chain of protein macromolecules to become peptides with smaller molecular weight, or act on the peptide chain ends of protein molecules to separate amino acids; and can hydrolyse certain lipids.

Through this action can make the sputum fibrin and mucin hydrolysis into peptides or amino acids, so that the viscous sputum liquefaction, easy to cough out, on the purulent or non-purulent sputum are effective.

In addition, alpha chymotrypsin can relax the ciliary ligament and dissolve the protein structure of certain tissues in the eye. alpha chymotrypsin also promotes the penetration of antibiotic and chemotherapeutic drugs into the lesion.
