Citicoline Powder Usage and Synthesis.

Citicoline Powder, named as Citicoline in Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2005, is a precursor of lecithin biosynthesis, and the content of lecithin in brain tissue is significantly reduced when brain function decreases. Citicoline Raw Material is mainly used for metabolic disorders after craniocerebral trauma and brain surgery, consciousness disorders, tremor palsy, neurological deafness and tinnitus, and sleeping pill poisoning. Citicoline Powder is also effective for Parkinson's syndrome and cerebral thrombosis hemiplegia.

Application/Function of Citicoline Powder.

Citicoline is a mononucleotide composed of nucleic acid, cytosine, pyrophosphate and choline, and is used clinically to treat a variety of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Some studies have also shown that cytocholine can increase the brain's uptake of dopamine and glutamate, thereby improving cognitive performance.

Production method of Citicoline Powder

There are more methods of preparation of Citicoline sodium, mainly three ways.

It can be extracted from liver or yeast, or synthesized chemically. The synthetic method is based on the reaction of cytosine-5'-diphosphate with ethyleneimine to form cytosine-5'-diphosphate aminoethyl ester, which is then methylated with iodomethane. It can also be obtained by direct condensation of cytosine-5'-phosphate amide with choline phosphate ester.
