Propolis Flavonoids Powder Usage and Synthesis.
Propolis extract is a yellow-brown or black-brown viscous material extract secreted by the Chinese honeybee or Italian bee, an animal of the honeybee family of the Apis mellifera, the main components of which are flavonoids and terpenes, etc. It has the functions of antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, viral inhibition, and enhancement of immunity.
Propolis is a gelatinous substance synthesised by bees through repeated metabolism of the resin collected from the buds and bark of long-glue plants, mixed with secretions from glands such as the tongue and wax glands of bees. Propolis is a reddish-brown to greenish-brown powder, or resin-like lumps, with a fragrance.
When heated, there are waxes, can be dispersed in water, and also has the role of surfactant.
Uses of Propolis Flavonoids.
It is used internally to replenish weakness, dissolve turbid fat, and quench thirst; externally to detoxify and reduce oedema. Used internally for deficiency and premature aging, hyperlipidaemia, thirst; used externally for chapped skin and burns.
Used for stomach ulcers, mouth ulcers, cervical erosion, shingles, bullous pemphigoid, psoriasis, cracked skin, corns, burns, tumours, hyperlipidaemia, diabetes mellitus.
Pharmacological effect of Propolis Flavonoids.
1.Antibacterial effect of propolis alcohol extract 35~750μg/ml in vitro test, staphylococcus aureus has inhibitory effect, can produce resistance, but with the general antibiotics and no cross-resistance found.
2.Antifungal effect propolis alcohol extract or ether extract 1%~10% concentration, with plate paper disc method test, found to have inhibitory effect on ringworm, flocculent epidermis ringworm, red ringworm, rust-coloured microsporidium, woolly microsporidium, gypsum-like ringworm, plaster-like microsporidium, hair-breaking ringworm and so on.
3. Antiprotozoal propolis ethanol extract 0.5~150μg/ml in vitro test, has the effect of killing Trichomonas vaginalis.
4.Anti-cancer effect of propolis ethanol extract has inhibitory effect on HeLa cells in vitro test, IC50 is 10μg/ml.
5.Anti-radiation damage in rats pre-administered propolis extract 20mg, half an hour before irradiation, can counteract the decline in leukocyte alkaline phosphatase activity induced by X-ray irradiation.
Preparation of Propolis Flavonoids.
1. Dichloromethane method takes out the propolis after refrigerating and crushing, adds a certain amount of dichloromethane, stirs thoroughly, carries on the heating reflux, sets aside for a few hours, carries on the filtration, then lets the solvent volatilise, then extracts with the ethanol hot reflux, filtration, removes the wax, can obtain the propolis extract.
2. Ethyl acetate method according to the principle of similar solubility of polar molecules, the use of ethyl acetate to dissolve propolis, the formation of dip.
The total amount of flavonoids can reach 22.5%. 3. Boron polymer electrolyte method This method is the latest research results of Japanese scientists, specifically the anionic polymer compounds - boron polymer electrolyte diluted refined aqueous solution with the cellulose containing propolis fully miscible with the polymer electrolyte diluted refined aqueous solution can be continuously decomposed The total amount of flavonoids can reach 22.5%.
3. boron polymer electrolyte method of this method is the latest research results of Japanese scientists, specifically the anionic polymer compounds - boron polymer electrolyte diluted refined aqueous solution with the cellulose containing propolis fully miscible polymer electrolyte diluted refined aqueous solution can be constantly decomposed propolis, and then add ethanol and to algae By adding ethanol and cellulose made from seaweed, a hydrophilic gel containing the active ingredient can be extracted, and the crystals obtained after refining have strong antibacterial power, and the extract obtained by this method has good activity.
