Tocotrienol has become one of the hot spots in foreign research. More and more studies have shown that tocotrienol has unique physiological functions in antioxidant properties, cholesterol reduction, cancer inhibition and other aspects, and has superior physiological functions than tocopherol in some aspects. It is suggested that tocotrienol has important value in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and the prevention of cancer and other medical and health food applications, but there are also differences.
Because vitamin E has a synergistic effect with selenium and vitamin C, the synergistic effect of other relevant factors (such as selenium and vitamin C) should be considered in the study of the mechanism of action and physiological effects of different types of vitamin E in inhibiting cholesterol synthesis and cell proliferation. Uses of Tocotrienol.
antioxidation
As a fat-soluble antioxidant, tocopherol mainly exists in cell membranes, trapping free radicals caused by lipid oxidation and playing a certain antioxidant role. In vitro experiments by Mohd et al. (2003) showed that TRF (a mixture of α-tocotrienol-rich components extracted from palm oil) is a better antioxidant than α-tocopherol, which can effectively inhibit LDL oxidation and endothelial cell lipid peroxidation. Serbinova et al. (1991) showed that during the lipid peroxidation of rat liver microsomes, α-tocotrienol had much stronger antioxidant activity than α-tocopherol, and its ability to protect cytochrome P450 was also stronger than α-tocopherol. Tocotrienol also protects the rat heart from oxidative damage. Rat experiments have reported that in the lipid peroxidation induced by iron/ascorbate and iron /NADPH in liver microsomes, the antioxidant activity of α-tocopherol is 40 to 60 times that of α-tocopherol. Alpha-tocotrienol can more effectively remove free radicals from lipid cell membranes.
