Food additive Sialic Acid Raw Materials Powder
Product Overview:
Sialic acid is a derivative of 9-carbon monosaccharide. The name comes from the Greek σιαλοσ (sialos) 'saliva'. It is a negatively charged ion that produces a smooth sensation in saliva. It is not only known to "induce" invading germs, it is currently recognised as a transmitter of gangliosides and is an integral part of the brain. Sialic acid prevents the invasion of germs. Sialic acid is also a receptor for the influenza virus and is the binding site for the influenza virus in mucus cells.

Food additive Sialic Acid Raw Materials Powder Details
Sialic Acid Powder Usage and Synthesis.
N-acetylneuraminic acid is the most widely distributed salivary acid in nature, and is mainly a constituent sugar of glycoproteins, glycolipids, or bacterial pod membrane substances of animal cell membranes or secretion fluids.
In glycoproteins or glycolipids, it is located at the non-reducing end of the sugar side chain due to the formation of a glycosidic bond by the ketone group at the 2-position, and its cathodic charge or unique chemical structure gives it various physiological specificities. The role of this terminal acidic sugar residue has been clarified by the changes in the physiological activity of the enzyme (neuraminidase), which hydrolyses the terminal N-acetylneuraminic acid removed, and is widely distributed in nature from viruses to animals.
This sugar residue, for example, constitutes the binding site for influenza viruses in erythrocyte cell membranes and plays a major role in the mechanism of reciprocal recognition of plasma glycoproteins with hepatocytes or the recognition of circulatory pathways by lymphocytes. The biosynthetic pathway, although more or less different in animals and bacteria, passes through N-acetylmannosamine or its 6-phosphate ester, which is catalysed by a specific pyrophosphatase reaction with CTP to produce CMP-N-acetylneuraminic acid, which is then incorporated into the glycan chain by a glycosyltransfer reaction.
Uses and functions of Polydatin.
Sialic acid is a carbohydrate widely found in nature and an essential component of many glycoproteins, glycopeptides and glycolipids, and has a wide range of biological functions, such as regulation of the half-life of blood proteins, neutralisation of a variety of toxins, cell adhesion, antigen-antibody responses in immunity and protection against cytolysis. Biochemical derivatives of sialic acid are also commonly used in the synthesis of drugs.
Salivary acid has a variety of physiological functions and plays a very important role in regulating the physiological and biochemical functions of the human body, such as anti-inflammatory, treatment of influenza, antiviral and anti-tumour. Research has found that salivary acid is a natural brain nutrient that can promote cognitive development in infants, enhance learning and memory ability, etc.
Characteristic of Polydatin.
Sialic acid is a class of neuraminic acid derivatives, an acidic aminosugar with nine carbon atoms and a pyranose structure, systematically named 5-amino-3,5-dideoxy-D-glycero-D-galactononanose. Depending on the linkage group on the 5th carbon, different derivatives of sialic acid are formed, and there are currently more than 50 compounds in the sialic acid family.
Appliance of Bulk Sialic Acid Powder.
The prime period of human brain development is from gestation to 2 years of age. This stage is a critical period when the number of brain cells is adjusted, their size increases, their function is perfected and the neural connection network is formed.
Therefore, it is natural for smart mothers to take care of adequate intake of salivary acid during pregnancy. And after the baby is born, breast milk is an effective way to replenish the baby with salivary acid, as each millilitre of breast milk contains about 0.3-1.5 milligrams of salivary acid.
In fact, all mammals, including humans, are able to synthesise salivary acid from the liver on their own. However, newborns, with their immature livers and the need for rapid brain growth and development, may synthesise only limited amounts of salivary acid on their own, especially in preterm infants.
Therefore, salivary acid in breast milk is essential to ensure normal growth and development of infants, and some Japanese companies have developed egg yolk salivary acid oligosaccharides, which can be used as ingredients and nutritional supplements in baby food.
There are also some studies that suggest that supplementing infants aged 0-6 months with milk powder high in salivary acid increases serum levels of gangliosides and promotes cognitive and learning abilities.
