    Uses and functions of L-Lysine.

    Mainly used as a food fortifier, nutritional supplements, but also to improve the performance of certain drugs to enhance the efficacy of medicines.

    1, lysine in food applications are mainly used in milk powder flavour enhancers, children's health products, nutritional supplements (mainly used to strengthen the L-lysine), due to the odour is less than L-lysine hydrochloride, so the effect is better.

    2、Lysine can be used as flavouring agent. It is used in alcohol, refreshing drinks, bread, starch products and so on.

    3、Lysine can be used as business additives.

    Nutritional supplements. Used to fortify lysine in food. Plant proteins in general lysine content is low. Rye, rice, corn, peanut flour and other lysine contained in the limiting amino acid, wheat, sesame, oats and other lysine contained in the first limiting amino acid. In Japan, the fortified dosage (in terms of L-lysine) is 150mg/100g for wheat flour, macaroni, instant noodles, etc.; 100mg/100g for bread, biscuits, etc.; and 50mg/100g for instant noodles, etc. It can also be used in mayonnaise, powdered milk, buttermilk, convenience foods, etc. The minimum daily requirement for adults (in terms of L-lysine) is 1mg/100g for wheat, rice, corn and peanut flour. Minimum daily requirement for adults (L-lysine): about 0.8g for men, about 0.4g for women, 12-32mg/kg for young people, 180mg/kg for young children (1g of L-lysine is equivalent to 1.25g of L-lysine hydrochloride).

    Preparation of L-Lysine.

    Preparation of free L-lysine solid: Weigh 1.00kg of L-lysine hydrochloride added to 5.0L purified water and stirred to dissolve and clarify, then add the solution to 7.20kg of activated strongly acidic cation exchange resin column, slowly rinse the resin column, 2-3h rinsed, and then continue to be rinsed with purified water until neutral and free of chlorine ions (0.1 mol/L silver nitrate to monitor and extensive pH test paper) until it is neutral.

    The resin column was slowly rinsed with 11.1 kg of 5% v/v ammonia added to the resin column for about 2-3 h. The rinsing process detected a pH greater than 10, and collection of the alkaline eluent was started until the pH decreased to about 10 to stop collection.

    The collected solution was concentrated at 60℃ (-0.10 ~ -0.08Mpa) under reduced pressure, concentrated out of water and ammonia until no droplets dripping out, continue to concentrate into a white solid, add 8L of anhydrous ethanol to the system, continue to slurry precipitation of crystals, slurry 3h, precipitate all the solids, centrifugal filtration of solids, until no droplets dripping out, the filter cake was flat to enameled trays, vacuum drying (60±5℃, -0.08 ~ -0.08Mpa). -0.08 ~ -0.1Mpa) 8h, the product cooled to room temperature, packed into a sealed bag sealed in a cool place to save, get free L-lysine solid 776g, yield 96.95%.

    L-lysine is generally supplied to the market as L-lysine hydrochloride [657-27-2], free L-lysine is very easy to deliquesce, easy to yellow and deteriorate due to free amino groups, and has a pungent fishy odour, which makes it difficult to be stored for a long time, while L-lysine hydrochloride is more stable, less prone to deliquescence, and easy to be stored. However, the demand for L-lysine in some applications is also increasing, such as peptide synthesis chemistry, biochemical research, lysine derivatives preparation.
