Pyridoxine, also known as vitamin B6 or anti rough skin vitamin, scientific name 2-methyl-3-hydroxy-4,5-dihydroxymethylpyridine, commonly known as pyridoxine hydrochloride, is usually prepared with its hydrochloride salt. It is a white or slightly yellow crystalline powder with a melting point of 204-206 ℃ (decomposition). Soluble in water, ethanol, and acetone, slightly soluble in ether. It has a sour and bitter taste, is stable in the air, gradually deteriorates when exposed to sunlight, and is prone to sublimation. Reacting with ferric chloride in a reddish brown color.

Pyridoxine Usage and Synthesis.
