Uses and functions of Daidzein Powder

As one of the main active ingredients of Pueraria Mirifica and soybean, the isoflavone compound daidzein (4',7-dihydroxyisoflavone, hereinafter referred to as D) has obvious anti-arrhythmic, anti-hypoxic-ischemic, anti-spasmodic, oestrogenic, osteoclastogenic, and inhibitory effects on the growth of cancer cells.

Tablets or capsules made of D are mainly used for the treatment of coronary heart disease, cerebral thrombosis, cerebral infarction and cerebral haemorrhage sequelae. It can also be used for neck pain, headache, dizziness and early sudden deafness caused by high blood pressure.

The action potential amplitude of isolated sciatic nerve of toad was mainly caused by Na+ inward flow, which was reduced by soybean sapogenins, which further indicated that soybean sapogenins had an inhibitory effect on Na+ inward flow.

Therefore, the antiarrhythmic effect of soybean sapogenins may be related to the inhibition of Na+ or Ca2+ influx and anti-beta-adrenergic receptor.
