N-acetylneuraminic acid (N-acylneuraminic acid) is the most widely distributed salivary acid in nature, and is mainly a constituent sugar of glycoproteins, glycolipids, or bacterial pod membrane substances of animal cell membranes or secretion fluids.
In glycoproteins or glycolipids, due to the 2-position ketone group to form a glycosidic bond and so that it is located in the sugar side chain of the non-reducing end of the cathodic charge or the unique chemical structure so that it has a variety of physiological specificity.
Bioactive pharmacological effects of Sialic Acid Raw Powder
The role of this terminal acidic sugar residue has been clarified by processing the physiological changes in the activity of the enzyme (neuraminidase) that hydrolyse the terminal N-acetylneuraminic acid removed, which is very widely distributed in nature, from viruses up to animals.
