Cistanche Extract Powder Usage and Synthesis.

Cistanchis are a group of annual parasitic plants native to North America and East Asia that grow in sandy soils in the United States and northeastern China. They are dug up in the spring while the seedlings are still fresh or just above the ground, and the inflorescences are then excised, sliced, and dried in the sun, where they are called "Sweet Cistanche". Those collected in autumn and soaked in brine are called "salty cistanche"; after the salt is removed, they are sliced and dried in sunlight or steamed with water and wine and dried in air.

Pharmacological Effect of Cistanche Extract Powder.

1.Effects on the central nervous system on lixiviate mice, it can increase the content of hypothalamic NE, striatal DA and brainstem 5-HT, and can reduce the content of 5-HIAA.

The ethanol extract of Cistanchis given to rats by continuous gavage for 40 days can increase the content of hypothalamus norepinephrine and 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid, and increase the ratio of norepinephrine to dihydroxybenzeneacetic acid; there is a certain increase of striatal dihydroxybenzeneacetic acid, while there is no significant effect on the limbic brain area monoamine neurotransmitters.
