Food grade sodium carboxymethyl starch (CMS) is a kind of modified starch etherified with carboxymethyl, which is odorless, non-toxic, not easy to mildew, easily soluble in water.
Applied in different foodstuffs it shows various functions such as thickening, suspending, emulsifying, stabilizing, shape-keeping, film-forming, puffing, preserving freshness, acid-resistant and health care, etc. It has better performance than carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and is the best product to replace CMC.
Food grade sodium carboxymethyl starch is widely used in milk, beverage, frozen food, fast food, pastry, syrup and other products. In addition, CMS is physiologically inert and has no calorific value, so it can be used to manufacture low calorific value food products to obtain ideal results.

Sodium carboxymethyl starch is a plant polysaccharide substance derived from pure corn, also known as plant polysaccharide. It has an important regulatory effect on the immune system, which is mainly manifested as immune enhancement or immune stimulation.

Preparation of Sodium carboxyl methylstarch.
(1) Preparation: ① 33.8 parts of sodium hydroxide into the kettle containing 25 parts of alkali purified water, add 225 parts (90-91%) ethanol, fully dissolved standby; ② 90-110 parts of chloroacetic acid with 125 parts (90-91%) of ethanol to fully dissolve, filtration standby;
(2) Add 650 parts of 90-91% ethanol to the glass-lined reaction tank, add 40-60 parts of sodium hydroxide to make it fully dissolved, put in 550 parts of starch, 1000ml of catalyst epichlorohydrin, control the temperature at 38-42℃, alkalize for 1 hour, and record the temperature every 20 minutes;
(3) Add chloroacetic acid solution and sodium hydroxide solution to the glass-lined reaction tank in turn, catalyst quaternary ammonium salt 800 ml, control the reaction temperature 53-56 ℃, etherification for 6 hours, and record the temperature every 30 minutes;
(4) To the glass-lined reaction tank to add 80-83% ethanol 700 copies, test the sodium chloride content (≤ 5.8%), PH value (5.8-7.3), qualified solid-liquid separation, filtrate timely hit the recycling tower for recycling and reuse;
5)Control the temperature 60-70 ℃ drying, drying 3 hours, stopping the transfer to the screening and packaging process;
