Arabinogalactan is a neutral polysaccharide composed of arabinose and galactose, which is mainly found in the xylem of coniferous trees, especially in larch, where the content can reach 25%. Arabinogalactan can be extracted from wood flour with water, and its ratio of L-arabinose to D-galactose is generally 1:5-6. The polysaccharide has a many-branched structure, in which the galactose is linked with arabinose side chains to form β-1,3 or β-1,6 bonds. Studies have shown that arabinogalactan can modulate the structure of the intestinal microbiota and alleviate the symptoms of ulcerative colitis in mice. Arabinogalactan Usage and Synthesis.
