Lanolin Usage and Synthesis.
Lanolin is a natural plant and animal fat, the main composition of which is fatty acid glycerides, which are excellent for moisturizing and hydrating human skin. Ninety-six percent of lanolin is wax fat, a mixture of sterols, triterpene alcohols, fatty alcohols and long carbon chain saturated and unsaturated fatty acids.
Although lanolin is low in free sterols, they play an important role in lanolin's moisturizing and water-absorbing properties. Lanolin is often combined with petroleum jelly to increase its water absorbency and drug permeability. In the emulsion matrix, lanolin also plays the role of auxiliary emulsifier, commonly used 30% water lanolin.
Uses of Lanolin.
Lanolin is used in the preparation of cosmetics, pharmaceutical ointments, and in the tanning and fur industry.
It is also used as antirust agent and corrosion inhibitor, lanolin is a natural moisture protector, lanolin to keep the skin moisture, supplement nutrition, lanolin has water absorption, suitable for skin moisturizing, lubrication, soft skin care cosmetics, and can be used as soap and soap fat additive, bath oil, sunscreen and other auxiliary cosmetics; also applies to the dispersing agent of the pigment of the cosmetic.

Preparation of Lanolin.
A method of inert gas with water synthesis of refined lanolin, using crude lanolin hydrolysis products--- lanolin acid and lanolin alcohol as raw materials, the following steps were carried out sequentially:
1), take lanolin acid and lanolin alcohol each 50 g, potassium hydroxide 0.2 g in 250 ml single-necked bottle, the system continues to pass into the N2, the rate of 1 ml / (ml - s), 190 ~ 200 ℃ under the condition of the reaction of 9h, after cooling to room temperature, wool fat paste solid (lanolin solid product); that is, 250 ml single-necked bottle as a reaction container, every second pass into this 250 ml single-necked bottle In other words, for the 250 ml single-necked bottle as the reaction vessel, the amount of N2 passed into the 250 ml single-necked bottle per second was 250 ml.
2), to the lanolin paste solid obtained in step 2), add sodium chlorite 25g, methanol 50ml, slowly add (control the temperature in the process of adding ≤ 70 ℃) 37% hydrochloric acid 5g, decolorization at 70 ℃ under the condition of 2h;
3), in the decolorization product obtained in step 2), while hot, add hot water (temperature of 50 ~ 55 ℃ water) 50 ml washing, split phase to take the upper oil phase, repeat the washing three times (washing conditions as above), cooled to room temperature to get a light yellow solid product, vacuum (vacuum degree of 0.096Mpa) drying (at 70 ℃ drying to a constant weight), to get lanolin 96.1g, yield 96.1%, acid value of 0.89. The acid value was 0.89.
Product Method of Lanolin.
