Sulfasalazine raw material Powder
Product Overview:
Salazopyridine is a sulfanilamide antibiotic. It is used in inflammatory bowel disease, namely Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and has both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects. It is a sulfanilamide drug that is not easily absorbed by mouth. After the 1970s, it was found to improve joint pain, swelling and stiffness of compulsory spondylitis, and reduce serum IgA levels and other laboratory activity indicators, especially for improving peripheral arthritis in patients with ankylosing spondylitis, and to prevent recurrence and reduce the effect of propigmenitis complicated by this disease. With the development of research, it is gradually applied to rheumatoid arthritis. Today, salazopyridine is widely used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and spondyloarthropathy.

Sulfasalazine raw material Powder Details
Sulfasalazine powder Usage and Synthesis.
Sulfasalazine (Azulfidine, Salazopyrin, Sulphasalazine, NSC 667219) is a sulfonamide derivative of Mesalazine, used primarily as an anti-inflammatory agent. Sulfasalazine is a potent and specific inhibitor of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB), TGF-β and COX-2. Sulfasalazine can induce iron death, apoptosis and autophagy.
Uses of Sulfasalazine.
Intestinal sulfanilamide, which has a special affinity with connective tissue, is a good drug for the treatment of chronic ulcerative conjunctivitis. Salazopyridine is a chemical combination of sulfanilamide and salicylic acid, which has been available for nearly 80 years. It belongs to the sulfanilamide family of drugs, but it has no antibacterial activity itself. In the gut, it is broken down into sulfapyridine and 5-aminosalicylate, which has a weaker antibacterial effect, and 5-aminosalicylic acid, which has anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. Salazopyridine is the primary drug for the treatment of mild and moderate ulcerative colitis, and it has the characteristic of being released in the colon, usually 3-4g/ day, orally divided. The initial dose can be as small as 1-2g daily. In addition to the treatment of ulcerative colitis, it has also been used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis and other rheumatic diseases. Salazopyridine improves joint pain, swelling, and stiffness in patients with ankylosing spondylitis, reduces serum IgA levels and other markers of laboratory activity, and is particularly suitable for improving peripheral arthritis in patients with AS.

Product Methods of Sulfasalazine.
2-aminopyridine reacts with n-acetylamino-benzene sulfonyl chloride, which is then hydrolyzed to obtain sulfonylpyridinium, which is then diazotized and coupled with salicylic acid and acidified to produce sulfasalazine.
