Uses of Cordycepin.
Cordyceps Sinensis has the functions of improving human immunity, delaying aging, anti-fatigue, anti-cancer, anti-bacterial, anti-virus, lowering blood glucose and blood lipids and androgen-like effects.
Cordyceps is an adenosine analogue, easily converted to cordyceps 5'-triphosphate; it can be used as an RNA 3'-end marker.
(1) Anti-tumour effect of cordycepin: At present, researchers have summarized the anti-tumour mechanism of cordycepin into two kinds: direct action and indirect action.
Direct action refers to the anti-tumour components in cordycepin directly inhibit the reproduction of tumour cells by interfering with the exchange of nucleic acids, proteins of nucleic acids and glucose in target cells.
Cordycepin can act on multiple cell signalling pathways, causing cell autophagy or apoptosis.
Indirectly, the anti-tumour active ingredients in cordycepin can enhance the function of immune cells by promoting the proliferation and differentiation of human immune cells, thus exerting anti-tumour effects.
(2) Cordycepin's antiviral effect: Cordycepin was firstly discovered and studied as a nucleoside antimicrobial agent. It has a wide range of inhibitory effects on bacteria, fungi, viruses and other pathogenic microorganisms.
(3)Cordycepin anti-aging effect: Cordycepin can increase the activity of SOD enzyme in the liver, inhibit the formation of superoxide compounds, and enhance the activity of monoamine oxidase in the brain, which suggests that cordycepin has an anti-aging effect.

Synthesis method of Cordycepin.
Cordycepin (3'-deoxyadenosine), also known as chrysin and cordycepin.
Cordycepin was firstly isolated by Cunningham et al. in 1951 in the liquid of Cordycepsmilitaris (Link.), which has various biological active functions.
Cordycepsin currently has the following main production processes: fermentation extraction of cordycepsin in the original strain of the production is not high, combined with the appropriate medium, optimise the culture conditions, culture methods can increase the production of cordycepsin.
Biosynthesis On the basis of the genomic study of Cordyceps chrysosporium, a potential synthetic gene cluster was obtained using bioinformatics analysis.
The gene functions of the four proteins encoded by this gene cluster were investigated to produce cordycepin by mediating adenosine 3"-OH phosphorylation, dephosphorylation and redox reactions.
Chemical synthesis was carried out with adenosine starting material and a mild green method was used to obtain high purity cordycepin (HPLC purity up to 99%).
