Raw Materials Genipin Powder CAS 6902-77-8 Details
Genipin Powder Usage and Synthesis.
Genipin is the product of gardenia glycoside hydrolysed by β-glucosidase, it is a kind of excellent natural biological cross-linking agent, it can be cross-linking with protein, collagen, gelatin and chitosan to make biological material, such as artificial bone, wound dressing material, etc. Its toxicity is far lower than glutaraldehyde and other commonly used chemical cross-linking agent.
It is also used to treat liver diseases, lower blood pressure, and laxative. Research results from a medical centre in Israel have shown that genipin can alleviate the symptoms of type II diabetes mellitus. Genipin can also be used as a fingerprinting reagent and as a cross-linking agent for the preparation of immobilised enzymes.
Uses and Function of Genipin.
A natural cross-linking agent extracted from the fruit of Gardenia jasminoides. It prevents lipid peroxidation and nitric oxide production. Genipin protects hippocampal neurons from Alzheimer′s disease β-amyloid toxicity. Has anti-inflammatory and anti-angiogenic effects. Involved in drug delivery system.
Preparation method of Genipin.
The preparation method of jingnipin generally adopts extracting jingnipin glycoside from gardenia, then hydrolysing it with β-glucosidase, and then extracting it with ether, concentrating it in vacuum, recrystallising and producing it, and it can also be prepared by adopting microbial transformation method.
Pharmacological Property of Bulk Genipin Powder.
It is the product of gardenia glycoside hydrolysed by β-glucosidase. To gastric function is anticholinergic inhibitory effect, is so far found in the cyclic allyl ether ether terpene glycosides inhibit mutagens mutation activity the strongest substances
