Raw materials 3 3'-diindolylmethane Powder
Product Overview:
3,3'-Diindolylmethane (DIM) is an indole derivative present in cruciferous vegetables with a variety of biological activities.
Studies have shown that DIM can regulate the behaviour of bacteria in terms of bioepidermal membrane formation, motility, virulence and antibiotic resistance, and has potential applications in the formation of bioepidermal membranes and the influence of extracellular matrix in the Gram-positive food-borne pathogen S. aureus.

3 3'-diindolylmethane Powder Usage and Synthesis.
3,3'-Diindolylmethane (DIM) is an indole derivative present in cruciferous vegetables with a variety of biological activities.
Studies have shown that DIM can regulate the behaviour of bacteria in terms of bioepidermal membrane formation, motility, virulence and antibiotic resistance, and has potential applications in the formation of bioepidermal membranes and the influence of extracellular matrix in the Gram-positive food-borne pathogen S. aureus.
In addition, DIM possesses various biological activities such as anti-tumour and anti-cancer. In a mouse xenograft tumour model, daily treatment with 10 mg/kg of 3,3'-diindolylmethane for 30 days significantly inhibited tumour growth without severe toxicity. In addition, DIM is a potent androgen receptor (AR) antagonist.
Epidemiological investigations have also found a negative correlation between the intake of vegetables, especially cruciferous vegetables, and the incidence of cancerous tumours, whereas indole derivatives such as indole-3-methanol, 3,3'-diindolylmethane, and indole-3-acetaldehyde can block the tumour-inducing effects of PAHs.
In conclusion, 3,3'-diindolylmethane has a wide range of application prospects and potentials, and is worthy of further research and development.
Uses of 3 3'-diindolylmethane.
3,3'-Diindolylmethane (DIM) is an indole derivative present in cruciferous vegetables. Studies have shown that DIM has a variety of biological activities, including anti-tumour, anti-cancer and modulation of bacterial behaviour.
In humans, DIM is a strong antagonist of androgen receptor (AR) function, and can inhibit cell proliferation and DNA synthesis in androgen-dependent human prostate cancer cells.
In addition, DIM is able to prevent breast, uterine and colorectal cancers, prevent symptoms of prostate enlargement, and treat premenstrual disorders.
Preparation method of 3 3'-diindolylmethane.
Indole (1.17 g,10 mmol), CTAB (50% mol) and oxalic acid (50% mol) were placed in a 25 ml single mouth round bottom flask, 5 ml of deionised water was added and stirred thoroughly for 5 min, then an aqueous solution of formaldehyde was added dropwise (0.38 g of solution, 5 mmol of formaldehyde). The reaction was stopped for 3 hours at room temperature.
The reaction solution was extracted with 15 ml of ethyl acetate in three portions and the organic phase was collected and dried with anhydrous Na2SO4 for 5 hours. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and recrystallised from a mixed solution of methanol and water (methanol/H2O = 10/1) to give 3,3'-diindolylmethane as a white solid in 85% yield.
