Olivetol Powder Usage and Synthesis.
3,5-Dihydroxypentylbenzene is an important pharmaceutical intermediate, first obtained through the degradation of lichenic acid (also known as D-sonoric acid, pentyl lichen condensate) extracted from lichen plants, and is mainly used in laboratory research and development processes and chemical production processes.
Uses of Olivetol.
1. Antioxidant effect: 3,5-Dihydroxypentylbenzene has strong antioxidant effect, which can scavenge free radicals and reduce cell damage caused by oxidative stress. This makes it potentially useful in the prevention and treatment of a number of diseases associated with oxidative stress, such as cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative diseases and cancer.
2. Anti-inflammatory effect: 3,5-Dihydroxypentylbenzene has an anti-inflammatory effect, which can inhibit the inflammatory response and reduce the symptoms of inflammation. Preparation of Olivetol.
156g of benzene, 900mL of dichloromethane and 146.5g of anhydrous aluminum trichloride were added to a 2L three-necked flask, cooled down to 0-5°C, then 120.5g of n-pentanoyl chloride was added slowly by dropwise addition, keeping the internal temperature at 0-10°C during the dropwise addition. After the dropwise addition, the temperature was raised to 40°C and the reaction was stirred for 2h.
Under the cooling of the ice bath, 500mL of 1N hydrochloric acid solution was slowly added dropwise, and after the dropwise addition was completed, the liquid was divided. The aqueous phase was then extracted with 400 mLDCM. The organic phases were combined and concentrated and distilled under reduced pressure to obtain 142 g of valerophenone in 87% yield.
In a 1L three-necked flask, 200mL of fuming nitric acid and 200mL of 5% sulfuric acid were prepared into a mixed acid within 20℃, and then the temperature was lowered to within 10℃, and 129.6g of valerophenone was added slowly by dropwise addition, and the internal temperature was controlled to be 0-10℃ during the dropwise addition. After the dropwise addition was completed, the reaction was kept warm for 2h and then warmed up to 50℃, and then reacted for 5h.
After cooling down to 20 ℃, the reaction solution was poured into crushed ice, the solid was precipitated, filtered, the filter cake was dissolved with DCM and partitioned, and the organic phase was then concentrated to obtain the crude product. The crude product was dissolved and crystallized by mixing PE with EA and dried to obtain 156.5 g of 3,5-dinitrophenyl pentanone in 78% yield and 98.3% purity.
