Tetraethylammonium bromide Usage and Synthesis.

Tetraethylammonium bromide can be used as polarographic analytical reagents and pesticide intermediates, and can be used for ion pair chromatography to test gold, iridium, palladium, rhodium and ruthenium.

Uses of Tetraethylammonium bromide.

In a 250mL three-necked flask equipped with a reflux condenser and a stirrer, add 7mL (5g, 0.05mol) of triethylamine, 4mL (5.5g, 0.05mol) of ethyl bromide and 20mL of 1,2-dichloroethane or benzene. Reflux and heat for 1.5 to 2h. After the reaction solution is cooled, crystals are precipitated, filtered, washed twice with a small amount of 1,2-dichloroethane or benzene, dried and stored in a desiccator. The yield is 8 to 10g.
