monobenzone Powder Usage and Synthesis.

monobenzone is a topical decolorizing agent used to treat hyperpigmentation, such as various color spots, age spots, melanoma, etc., the effect is obvious. It can decompose melanin in the skin, prevent the generation of melanin in the skin, so that the skin can restore healthy color, without destroying melanocytes, very light toxicity, usually made of ointment or liniment, has been included in the United States Pharmacopeia.

Uses of monobenzone.

4-benzoxy phenol is a topically used decolorizing agent that breaks down melanin in the skin (melamin), prevents the production of melanin in the skin, and restores the skin to a healthy color without damaging melanocytes, thus playing a decolorizing role. Clinically, it is mainly used to treat hyperpigmentation, such as various color spots, age spots, vitiligo, melanoma and so on. Preparation of monobenzone.

Monobenzone was synthesized under microwave irradiation with hydroquinone, sodium hydroxide and benzyl chloride as raw materials and N, n-dimethylformamide (DMF) as solvent. The effects of molar ratio of reactants, microwave radiation power and radiation time on the yield of monobenzone were investigated by single factor experiment. The experimental results show that the yield of monobenzone is 63.79% when n(benzyl chloride) : n(hydroquinone) : n(sodium hydroxide)= 1:1:4:1.4, DMF15mL, microwave radiation power is 320W and radiation time is 60s.

Add 2.63g(0.028mol) hydroquinone into a 100mL conical bottle, weigh 1.12g(0.028mol) sodium hydroxide, add 8mL water, wait for the sodium hydroxide to dissolve and add to the conical bottle containing hydroquinone, shake well, then add 15mLDMF and 2.52g(0.02mol) benzyl chloride. Under the condition that the microwave radiation power is 320W, the radiation reaction is 60s. Cool to room temperature after reaction. The filter cake is washed with 10% sodium hydroxide until the filtrate is colorless (the filter cake is hydroquinone bibenzyl ether, which can be recycled). The filtrate was acidified with hydrochloric acid to precipitate monobenzone completely. After filtration and washing with ice water, the filtrate was recrystallized with alcohol and water and decolorized with activated carbon to obtain 2.55g white solid with yield of 63.79%.
