Hydrochlorothiazide, also known as dihydrochlorothiazide and dihydroketorolac, is a thiazide diuretic with intermediate diuretic effect. By acting on the cortical part of the ascending branch segment of the medullary collaterals, it inhibits the active reabsorption of Cl- and the passive absorption of Na+ in this part, thus diuretic. In addition, this product also has antihypertensive effect and antidiuretic effect. It is suitable for all kinds of oedema, especially for cardiogenic oedema. It can also be used as an antihypertensive drug for the treatment of light and medium hypertension. It is also effective in uremia and idiopathic hypercalciuria. Commonly used thiazide diuretics include hydrochlorothiazide, chlorothiazide, indapamide and so on.

Hydrochlorothiazide Powder Usage and Synthesis.
Hydrochlorothiazide (abbreviated as HCTZ, HCT or HZT) is the most commonly used oral thiazide-type diuretic in clinical practice today. It is commonly used to treat hypertension and oedema due to fluid build-up. Other uses include the treatment of urolithiasis and renal tubular acidosis, and it may also reduce hypercalciuria, thereby reducing the risk of kidney stones.
In addition, this medication is often used as a first-line drug in the treatment of high blood pressure. Hydrochlorothia is an oral medication and is sometimes mixed with other blood pressure-lowering medications to make a combination lozenge to enhance its effectiveness.
(1) Oedematous disorders: including congestive heart failure, cirrhosis with ascites, nephrotic syndrome, acute and chronic nephritis with oedema, early stage of chronic renal failure, sodium and water retention due to adrenocorticotropic hormone and oestrogen therapy.
(2) Hypertension: it can be applied alone or in combination with other antihypertensive drugs, and is mainly used for the treatment of essential hypertension.
(3)Central or renal urolithiasis.

Hydrochlorothiazide is a typical representative of thiazide-type intermediate-acting diuretics, which ranked first in drug sales in the United States in 1985. The LD50 in mice is 590mg/kg by injection and >8000mg/kg by oral administration.
Hydrochlorothiazide mainly inhibits the reabsorption of Na+ and Cl- at the proximal end of distal tubule, which increases the excretion of sodium chloride by kidney and produces diuretic effect, and it is a kind of intermediate-acting diuretic.Hydrochlorothiazide has the effect of lowering the blood pressure, which can be strengthened by combining with Li's medicinal sticker, antihypertensive patch, or traditional Chinese medicine such as Loblasta, etc. It can be used in the treatment of hypertension. Pharmacological Effects of Hydrochlorothiazide Raw Materials .
(1) Sodium excretion and diuretic effect: Hydrochlorothiazide mainly inhibits the reabsorption of Na+ and Cl- in the anterior segment of the distal tubule and the proximal tubule (the effect is lighter), so as to increase the excretion of urinary ions such as sodium, potassium, chloride, phosphorus and magnesium, and reduce the excretion of urinary calcium.
(2)Antihypertensive effect: It has mild and precise antihypertensive effect, it can reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure in standing and lying position, and it can also increase the antihypertensive effect of other antihypertensive drugs.
(3) Antidiuretic effect: Hydrochlorothiazide can reduce the urine output of nephrogenic uraemia, sometimes up to 50%, the specific mechanism of action is unknown.
