Uses and functions of Moxonidine Powder
Moxonidine, also known as Moxonidine, chemically known as 4-chloro-N-(4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-6-methoxy-2-methyl-5-pyrimidinamine, is a highly selective imidazoline-type I receptor agonist, which reduces peripheral sympathetic activity by agonising the ventral ventral lateral nucleus of the medulla oblongata (RVLM)-Imidazoline-type I receptor, thus relaxing the vasodilatation and decreasing peripheral resistance to vascular resistance so that the blood pressure decreases, and it belongs to a new type of antihypertensive drug, which is commonly used in the treatment of essential hypertension.
- 1. It works by stimulating central presynaptic α2-receptors. Its antihypertensive effect is similar to that of the calcium antagonist nifedipine and the ACE inhibitor captopril. It is used in essential hypertension.
- 2. Interferes with renal interstitial fibrosis and thus protects the kidneys.
