Viamin ester is a derivative of retinoic acid, the structural formula is similar to all-trans retinoic acid, the mechanism of action is more similar to 13-cis-retinoic acid and aromatic retinoic acid, but the side effects are milder than those of all-trans retinoic acid.

Oral administration has the function of regulating and controlling the differentiation and growth of epithelial cells, inhibiting keratinisation, reducing sebum secretion, inhibiting the keratinisation process of keratin-forming cells, restoring keratinisation abnormality to normal, inhibiting the growth of Propionibacterium acnes, and regulating the immune and anti-inflammatory effects.

It is clinically applicable to the treatment of acne, and can also be used for facial disseminated milia lupus, hair erythema, follicular keratosis, various types of ichthyosis, keratosis palmata, oral mucosal leukoplakia and mycosis fungoides.
