Hydroxycitric Acid Raw Materials Powder CAS 6205-14-7
Product Overview:
Hydroxycitric acid ((-)-HCA) is an important organic acid, it is a derivative of citric acid, in the natural hibiscus plant contains a lot of its molecular formula is C6H8O8, it is composed of polyol and polyacids of highly active molecules, not only can be prepared per unit of molecular high content of calcium salts, potassium salts and other health care products, but also the use of its multi-activity functional groups as a pre-drug intermediates in some new drugs; also can be Through the esterification reaction to produce non-toxic special plasticisers and other fine chemical products.

Hydroxycitric Acid Raw Materials Powder CAS 6205-14-7 Details
Hydroxycitric Acid Powder Usage and Synthesis.
It is found mainly in the fruit hulls of Garcinia cambogia, Garciniaindica and Garciniaatroviridis, which are native to the Indian subcontinent and western Sri Lanka. The fruit shells of these plants are commonly used as a flavouring condiment for curries instead of tamarind or lemon, and also as preservatives and herbal tonics, among others. In addition, hydroxycitric acid is also present in the genus Hibiscus.
Uses and functions of Hydroxycitric Acid.
Citrate lyase catalyses the cleavage of extra-mitochondrial citrate to oxaloacetate and acetyl-CoA.Citrate lyase is widely distributed in animal tissues and is thought to have a role in both the conversion of carbohydrates to fats as well as gluconeogenesis. (-)-HCA inhibits the cleavage of citric acid to oxaloacetate and acetyl-CoA, a molecule that plays a key role in the storage of energy as fat, by inhibiting the activity of citrate lyase outside the mitochondria. Moreover, (-)-HCA may act only at a certain metabolic level and does not act directly on the central nervous system as those typical appetite suppressants do, so that pre-consumption of (-)-HCA and aerobic exercise after nutrient uptake by the organism (posta-bsorptively) enhances glycogen neogenesis while contributing to endurance. Moreover, carnitine and bioactive chromium may also help to enhance this endurance-enhancing effect of (-)-HCA.
Pharmacological Effects of Hydroxycitric Acid.
The synthesis method was based on citric acid as raw material, and aconitic acid was produced by dehydration, and then hydroxycitric acid was produced by oxidation of aconitic acid.
The optimised processes of aconitic acid and hydroxycitric acid were studied separately. The optimised process conditions for aconitic acid were 1 mol of hydroxycitric acid with 270 mol of 56% sulphuric acid, and the reaction was carried out at 140°C for 7h, resulting in the decomposition of aconitic acid at a melting point of 186°C; the waste acid and undecomposed citric acid were recycled, and the recovery rate of citric acid was up to 28%, and the recovery rate of concentrated sulphuric acid was up to 65%.
The optimised process conditions of hydroxycitric acid are 2:1 ratio of n oxidant to n aconitic acid, 16h reaction time, 50℃ reaction temperature to obtain hydroxycitric acid, the product yield is about 80%.
Physiological Function of Hydroxycitric Acid Raw Powder.
Studies have shown that (-)-HCA not only inhibits the synthesis of fatty acids and fats, but also reduces appetite and food intake, which ultimately results in weight loss, in addition to (-)-HCA's good effect on appetite control.5-HT (serotonin, 5-HT) is a neurotransmitter that is essential for many organisms' behavioural functions (e.g., mood, Chemicalbook sleep, and appetite control) and it affects body weight. ) is a neurotransmitter essential for many body functions (e.g. mood, chemicalbook sleep and appetite control, etc.), and it affects the body's feeding behaviour and body weight. Elevated serum 5-HT levels are associated with decreased food intake, decreased body weight and increased energy expenditure. (-)-HCA significantly inhibits the reabsorption of 5-HT and increases serum 5-HT levels.
