Feed additive Dimetridazole Raw Powder 551-92-8 Details
Dimetridazole Powder Usage and Synthesis.
Dimethylnitroimidazole is mainly used as veterinary antibacterial drugs, is the first choice for the prevention and treatment of porcine dysentery, can also be used as feed additives, is conducive to promoting the growth of livestock and poultry, a small amount of daily-use chemicals.
Broad-spectrum anti-anaerobic bacteria and antiprotozoal drugs, on the tissue of Trichomonas, are killed, also has a certain inhibition of coccidia.
Uses and functions of Dimetridazole.
Dimethylnitroimidazole has a significant inhibitory effect on the protozoa such as Trichomonas, Trichomonas bovis, Colonic Pouch Worm, Flagellates, and bacteria such as Anaerobic filamentous bacillus necrophorum, Clostridium perfringens, Anaerobic staphylococcus, Vibrio intestinalis, and Spiroplasma spiroplasmodiale, etc, and it is an effective drug for the treatment of turkey blackhead disease and swine red diarrhoea.
Dimethylnitroimidazole can also be used as a growth promoter to promote the production of pigs and chickens and improve the feed conversion rate. When used as a feed additive, dimethylnitroimidazole is premixed with 10-20 times the amount of feed at the time of feed processing, and then evenly mixed with the total amount of feed required. Or mix dimethylnitroimidazole with appropriate amount of carrier first, then add into the feed and mix.
When processing compound feeds, pelleting and other operational processes have no effect on the effectiveness of this product. Dimethylnitroimidazole can be mixed into feed or added to drinking water for livestock and poultry.
Metronidazole is of low toxicity, well tolerated by animals and has no carcinogenic or teratogenic effect.
Dimethylnitroimidazole is rapidly absorbed in the intestinal tract, distributed in various tissues, and circulated into the intestine and liver through the biliary tract. In the body of livestock, it is excreted after oxidative and reductive metabolism.
Residues in the carcass, after 48h or after cooking, the vast majority is destroyed. Decomposition in the soil is also faster, so it does not lead to pollution of the environment. The product is stable and can be stored in a dry place under 37℃ for two years.
Chemical Properties of Dimetridazole.
Light yellow needle-like crystalline powder, odourless. Melting point 138-139°C. Soluble in chloroform, ethanol, dilute alkali and dilute acid, insoluble in hydrated ether. Hydrochloride soluble in hydrated ethanol, slightly soluble in acetone.
Production Method of Bulk Dimetridazole Powder.
Glyoxal was used as a starting material and cyclised with acetaldehyde and ammonia to give 2-methylimidazole (C4H5N2, [693--98-1]). Then nitration, to get 2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole (C4H6N3O2Chemicalbook, [696-23-1]. Final methylation with dimethyl sulphate gives methylnitroimidazole. The intermediate 2-methylimidazole can also be obtained by cyclisation of ethylenediamine with acetonitrile to obtain 2-methylimidazoline, followed by catalytic dehydrogenation with activated nickel.
