From the reaction of 5-chloro-2-nitroaniline and phenylthiol, 5-phenylthio-2-nitroaniline was produced with 91% yield. 3-Phenylthio-o-phenylenediamine was reduced by ferrous sulfate-iron powder with 90% yield. Finally, the benzothiobenzimidazole was obtained by cyclisation with methyl S-methyl-cyanamidoformate.
