Nystatin Powder Usage and Synthesis.
Aspergillin is a polyene antifungal drug with broad-spectrum antifungal effect, but it is not absorbed through the skin and mucous membranes, and the blood concentration is very low after oral administration, so it is limited to topical application in clinic and the therapeutic effect is unsatisfactory. According to the literature, its new dosage form preparation not only improves the effect of local topical application, but also expands its use.
Liposomal injection of mycobacteriocin was developed by Aronex and is currently at the end of phase III clinical trials.
It was used to treat Candida infection in 109 patients with candidaemia, 91 of whom were treated with a daily dose of 2 mg/kg and another 18 with 4 mg/kg administered intravenously for a mean duration of 10.6 days. 50 of 56 evaluable patients were effective. In the clinically immunocompromised infected population, 60% of Candida infections that were not susceptible to amphotericin B or fluconazole were susceptible to this product, and intravenous administration resulted in 80% of patients being cured.

Nystatin is not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract after oral administration, has very low blood levels after administration of commonly used oral doses, and has no therapeutic effect on systemic fungal infections. Almost all of the dosage is excreted in the faeces. Topical application is not absorbed by the skin and mucous membranes.
