Prickly Ash Extract Powder Usage and Synthesis.

Pepper Extract is an active substance extracted from peppercorns of the Rutaceae family, with the effect of warming the middle and relieving pain, killing insects and relieving itching. It is used for cold pain in the epigastric region, vomiting and diarrhoea, abdominal pain caused by worms and ascariasis; external treatment of eczema and itching.

Pharmacological Effect of Prickly Ash Extract.

①Effect on cardiovascular system: Rabbit intravenous injection can occur rapid and significant antihypertensive effect. Inconine has ephedrine-like effect, but the intensity is weaker, it can raise the blood pressure of anaesthetised cats, enhance the effect of adrenaline on blood pressure, and dilate coronary blood vessels.

In the animal model of myocardial injury under ice-water stress, the ether extract of peppercorns can significantly reduce 5′-nucleotidase activity, and both the aqueous and ether extracts can significantly reduce monoamine oxidase activity and serum triglyceride content, but do not reduce hepatic triglyceride content. Pepper toxin has the effect of relieving coronary artery spasm.

② Effects on the digestive system: geranylgeranyl alcohol on the small intestine of rabbits in vitro, the low concentration of the effect is not constant, sometimes there is a mild but longer hypermotility, a large dose of inhibition of intestinal motility; rats can inhibit the gastrointestinal motility of geranylgeranyl alcohol, intestinal motility of the large intestine is not much; close to the lethal dose of a diarrhoeal effect. ④Effect on coagulation function: the aqueous and ether extracts of Capsicum annuum have obvious inhibitory effect on thrombosis in rats, and can prolong the time of experimental thrombosis; and have certain anticoagulant effect. Bergamot lactone has certain anticoagulant and haemostatic effects against heparin.

⑤ Analgesic, sedative: aqueous and ether extracts of pepper have obvious inhibitory effects on acetic acid-induced writhing reaction in mice, and ether extracts have stronger effects than aqueous extracts. Geraniol in small doses can inhibit the spontaneous activity of mice.

⑥ anti-inflammatory: pepper aqueous extract and ether extract can counteract the effect of acetic acid to increase the peritoneal capillary permeability of mice as well as to inhibit the swelling of the auricle of xylene-prone mice and the swelling of the foot and metatarsal of keratan gum-prone rats.
