Product details
The refreshing odour of mangosteen is mainly due to volatile constituents, including hexyl acetate, phytol (cis-3-hexenol), and α-copaene (Copaene). One of the xanthones, α-copaene, has significant antioxidant properties and has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects.
Uses and functions of Mangosteen Extract.
Firstly, it has anti-inflammatory properties. As studied in animal experiments and clinical double-blind human trials, mangosteen extract inhibits cellular hormones and reduces the production of the prostaglandin PGE2, leading to anti-inflammatory effects. In addition, taking 600mg of 10% mangosteen extract daily for five days effectively reduced pain by 50%, which is comparable to the effect of taking the non-steroidal drug Nimesulide.
Secondly, mangosteen extract also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It can be anti-Staphylococcus aureus, anti-fungal, anti-tuberculosis branch bacillus, anti-vancomycin-resistant enterococci, anti-Short Corynebacterium and Staphylococcus epidermidis, etc., and it has a certain anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect on inflammation such as burns, scalds, oral inflammation, etc.
Pharmacological Effect of Mangosteen Extract.
1. Antioxidant effect
Mangosteen alcohol extract has a good cosmetic skin care effect, based on its ability to effectively scavenge excessive oxygen free radicals, enhance the anti-wrinkle, effectively delay the skin aging. Among them, n-butanol solvent and ethyl acetate solvent have the best antioxidant activity.
2. Antibacterial effect
Mangosteen extract has a strong inhibitory effect on a variety of disease-causing microorganisms in nature. It can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, a common dermatological pathogen, and some of its components can also inhibit methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. The polysaccharide extract of mangosteen can stimulate phagocytosis to kill intracellular bacteria of Salmonella enteritidis, and stimulate leukocytes to play phagocytosis and bactericidal effect.
3. Anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects
Two kinds of mangosteen flavonoids extracted from mangosteen, α,γ-invertin, have strong anti-inflammatory activity, and both of them can significantly inhibit the expression of nitric oxide products and dinoprostenone products as well as nitric oxide synthase in the RAW264.7 cell line model stimulated by lipopolysaccharide.
The study suggested that the two substances reduced the level of dinoprostenol mainly through the inhibition of cyclooxygenase 2 activity and nitric oxide products. In the rat paw oedema model caused by carrageenan gum injection, a significant inhibitory effect was found after 3h treatment with α-invertegrin.
Gamma-invertin inhibited the synthesis of prostaglandins by rat nerve cells. Therefore, these two substances have good anti-inflammatory effects and can be used as precursor compounds for the development of new anti-inflammatory drugs. The study showed that 40% ethanol extract had a strong inhibitory effect on immunoglobulin E-mediated histamine release from RBL-2H3 cells.
In addition, it also showed significant inhibitory effect on passive skin allergic reaction in rats, indicating that the extract of Mangosteen has better antihistamine and anti-skin allergic effects.
Preparation method of Bulk Mangosteen Extract Powder.
Take fresh mangosteen pericarp after drying and crushing 6.4kg, extract with 95% ethanol reflux each 3 times, each time 2h, merge the extract under reduced pressure concentration to get mangosteen pericarp extract. Take fresh mangosteen pulp 854g were sequentially extracted with 95% ethanol 1 time, distilled water reflux extraction 3 times, each time 2h, combined distilled water extract, concentrated under reduced pressure to get mangosteen pulp extract.
