Uses of Rifampicin.

It has a broad-spectrum antibacterial effect as a pharmaceutical intermediate, and has good antibacterial activity against Gram-positive coccus and tuberculosis bacillus. The antibacterial spectrum is the same as that of rifampicin.

Rifampicin has a good antibacterial effect on aerobic gram-positive bacteria, including staphylococcus enzyme producing strains and methicillin-resistant strains, Streptococcus pneumoniae, other streptococcus genera, Enterococcus genera, Listeria genera, anthrax bacillus, perfringens bacillus, diphtheria bacillus, anaerobic coccus, etc.
It also has high antibacterial activity against aerobic gram-negative bacteria such as Neisseria meningitidis, Haemophilus influenzae and Neisseria gonorrhoea. Rifampin also has a good effect on Legionella, and has an inhibitory effect on chlamydia trachomatis, venereal lymphogranuloma and pectin fever. Bacteria are cross-resistant to rifamycin antibiotics. Rifampicin binds firmly to the beta subunit of DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial RNA and preventing the enzyme from linking to DNA, thus blocking the RNA transcription process and stopping the synthesis of DNA and proteins.
