Red Peony Extract of Usage and Synthesis.

It is clinically used for esophageal cancer, liver cancer, breast cancer, thyroid cancer, skin cancer, bone tumor, brain tumor, leukemia, malignant lymphoma, bone metastasis, skin metastasis and ulceration.

(1) In the treatment of skin cancer, it can be used equally with safflower, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Shengdi, Angelica sinensis, cauleratholobi and Chuanxiong.

(2) In the treatment of breast cancer, it can be used together with Baizhu, Dionychia, Chinagia seed, Angelica, Tangerine leaf, tangerine pit, sequent, loofah, white myrtle, salvia miltiorrhiza, Bupleurum, raw oyster and other drugs.

Uses of Red Peony Extract.

Pharmacological action of Red Peony Extract.

1. Effect on cardiovascular system

Intragastric administration of 10g/kg extract of Paeony had a certain protective effect on myocardial function in early scalded rats. Red Paeony injection 1.0g/kg intramuscular injection can dilate pulmonary vessels, reduce pulmonary pressure, increase cardiac output and improve cardiopulmonary function in experimental rabbit pulmonary hypertension. Paeoniflorin had a transient antihypertensive effect on guinea pigs. It dilates the coronary blood vessels and the blood vessels in the hind limbs of dogs. It can also dilate coronary artery in isolated rats, increase coronary blood flow and improve myocardial oxygen supply. Red peony extract can significantly increase the levels of high density lipoprotein, decrease the levels of total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein and very low density lipoprotein, and reduce the plasma lipid peroxide and calcium deposition in the artery wall of experimental arteriosclerosis rabbits.

2. Effect on blood system

The time of thrombus formation in vitro could be prolonged by intragastration of red peony decoction. The dry weight of thrombus can be reduced, and prothrombin formation time and thrombin time can be prolonged. In vitro, Red peony injection can prolong the plasma and thrombin time of rabbits in a dose-dependent manner. Red Paeony can improve the whole blood viscosity, plasma viscosity, red blood cell electrophoresis and other hemorheological indexes, and can make fibrinolysis by activating plasminogen to plasminase. The inhibitory effect of Radix paeoniae root extract on TXA2 was similar to aspirin. The whole blood viscosity of patients with coronary heart disease was decreased by intravenous infusion of Radix paeoniae essence. Can be used for coronary heart disease, pulmonary heart disease.

3. Anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects

Paeoniflorin 1mg/kg intraperitoneal injection can significantly inhibit carrageene-induced foot swelling in rats. Oral extract of Radix paeoniae water can also inhibit the foot swelling caused by carrageenan in mice and resist the writhing reaction of acetic acid. It can inhibit the release of histamine in mice. Water extract can inhibit the skin reaction of mice ear contact with picrin. Inhibition of passive skin allergic reaction in mice and adjuvant arthritis in rats.
