Chromium Picolinate is a purplish red crystalline fine powder with good fluidity, chemically stable at room temperature, slightly soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol, in which chromium is trivalent chromium. The whole molecular structure is electrically neutral and hydrophobic, so it can be absorbed across the membrane with a complete structure, and the molecular structure is partially similar to that of GTF. In 1977, Toepfer considered GTF as a biologically active form of chromium, and its structure is a complex formed by nicotinic acid-chromium-nicotinic acid with aspartic acid, glutamic acid, glycine and cysteine.

The GTF-like structure of chromium pyridinecarboxylate determines its own better absorption rate and allows it to perform its biological functions more effectively.
