Spiramycin Powder Usage and Synthesis.

Spiramycin is still widely used clinically for the treatment of diseases caused by respiratory tract infections. And in some countries, Spiramycin is still a designated drug for the treatment of odontogenic infections, such as acute periodontitis, pericoronitis, pulpal arrythmias and other diseases. Spiramycin, amoxicillin and methotrexate are now useful in the treatment of periodontitis.

Uses and functions of Spiramycin.

Spiramycin is used to treat infections of the ear, nose, throat and respiratory tract caused by Gram-positive and certain Gram-negative bacteria such as acute bronchitis, acute exacerbations of acute bronchitis, pneumonia, scarlet fever, tonsillitis, otitis media, periodontitis, and acute sinusitis.

Spiramycin is also used to treat non-gonococcal urethritis. This product has a powerful in vivo antibacterial effect and antibacterial after-effect (PAE), which can enhance phagocytosis and is widely distributed in the body. It has a higher intracellular concentration in tissues than erythromycin, while the side effects are less than those of erythromycin.

Mainly used for whooping cough, pneumonia, bronchitis, tonsillitis, otitis media, gonorrhoea, gonorrhoeal urethritis, etc.

Pharmacological Effects of Spiramycin Raw.

Spiramycin free base is white to light yellow powder; bitter taste, slightly soluble in water, easily soluble in a variety of organic solvents. The potency of this product is 2700 units per mg.

Clinically used its sulfate, stable, soluble in water and ethanol. Antibacterial spectrum similar to erythromycin, tylosin, antibacterial effect on Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, staphylococcus, meningococcus, mycoplasma and so on.

Production method of Bulk Spiramycin Powder.

1. Adults: 0.8～1.2g per day, divided into 3～4 times; in severe cases, it can be used up to 1.6～2g per day.

2. Children: 20～30mg/kg per day, divided into 2～4 times.
