Corn Silk Extract Usage and Function.

Corn silk contains a lot of dietary fiber. Pharmacological Action of Corn Silk Extract.

1. Hypoglycemic effect

The water extract of corn silk has a therapeutic effect on alloxan-induced diabetes in mice, and also has a significant antagonistic effect on the increase in blood sugar caused by glucose and adrenaline. The water extract of corn silk can reduce blood sugar content and has no effect on normal mice. The folk application of corn silk to treat diabetes has achieved good results, and its fermented preparation has a strong hypoglycemic effect on rabbits. An experimental report pointed out that its effective ingredient may be cyclohexanol. There are also reports that total saponins are one of the main active parts of corn silk for hypoglycemia.

2. Antibacterial effect

The ethanol extract of corn silk has an inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, and Proteus vulgaris. The water extract of corn silk has the effect of inhibiting the growth of aspergillus enzymes. The active ingredients are glucanase and chitin after experimental analysis.

3. Anti-tumor effect

The in vitro staining experiment of tumor cell lines using the ethanol extract of corn silk (ESM) showed that ESM can reduce the in vitro survival rate of human leukemia cells K562 and gastric cancer cells SGC.

4. Anti-allergic effect

In the passive skin allergic reaction test of mice, it was shown that the glycoprotein separated from corn silk extract and dinitrophenol ovalbumin antigen can inhibit the formation of LgE. This shows that this protein is effective against type I allergic virus.

5. Anti-aging effect

Corn silk polysaccharide can significantly improve the oxygen tolerance and fatigue resistance of mice, increase the weight of immune organs of normal mice, and significantly enhance the phagocytic function of the mouse reticular system.
