Sodium formate can be used as a chemical analysis reagent, used to determine the content of arsenic and phosphorus, and also used as a disinfectant, mordant, etc. In industry, powdered sodium formate is used instead of formic acid to improve the performance of limestone FGD systems. Calcium formate is a free-flowing white crystalline powder with mildew-proof, antiseptic and antibacterial effects. It is an organic acid feed additive. The content is 99%, including 69% formic acid and 31% calcium, and the water content is low.
This product has a high melting point and is not easily destroyed in pellets. 0.9% to 1.5% is added to the feed. This product separates formic acid in the stomach, lowers the pH value of the stomach, maintains the acidity of the digestive tract, and prevents the growth of pathogenic bacteria, thereby controlling and preventing diarrhea related to bacterial infection.
Trace formic acid can activate the role of pepsinogen and improve the absorption of effective ingredients in feed; it chelates with minerals in feed to promote the digestion and absorption of minerals; it can also be used as a calcium supplement. It is used to prevent diarrhea in piglets and improve survival rate; it promotes feed conversion and increases daily weight gain.

Industrially, it is produced by the reaction of carbon monoxide and sodium hydroxide at 150-170℃ and about 2MPa. In fact, the production process of sodium formate is part of the production of oxalic acid, and the concentration of sodium hydroxide solution used for absorption reaction is 25%-30%. Sodium formate can also be produced by the reaction of formic acid with sodium oxychloride or sodium bicarbonate. Raw material consumption quota: carbon monoxide (>28%) 1630kg/t, caustic soda (>30%) 2160kg/t.
