Methyldopa Powder Usage and Synthesis.

L-methyldopa is used for moderate, severe or malignant hypertension, especially for renal hypertension or hypertension with poor renal function.

Uses of Methyldopa.

L-methyldopa is a B-block-type cardiovascular drug, which has a good effect on primary and renal hypertension of moderate program.

Combined with fluphenazine and haloperidol, the extrapyramidal adverse reactions were increased. Ibuprofen has antihypertensive effect on methyldopa; Levodopa antagonizes the antitremor paralysis effect of methyldopa; Increased neurotoxicity in combination with lithium. Pharmacological action of Methyldopa.

This product is an aromatine decarboxylase inhibitor. Only the L-isomer of alpha-methyldopa has antihypertensive activity in humans, and the racemic (DL-alpha-methyldopa) requires twice the dose to achieve the same antihypertensive effect. Its antihypertensive effect may be through its active metabolite β-methylnorepinephrine stimulation of central inhibitory β receptors and pseudo-neurotransmitters, reducing plasma renin activity, and thereby reducing arterial blood pressure. Methyldopa can reduce tissue levels of serotonin, dopamine, nomethylepinephrine, and methylepinephrine. It has no direct effect on cardiac function and generally does not reduce glomerular filtration rate, renal blood flow, and filtration fraction. Cardiac output remains constant at normal heart rate, and some patients experience a slowing heart rate. Plasma renin activity decreased during treatment. Methyldopa can reduce decubitus and orthostatic blood pressure, and postural hypotension is rare. Hypotension during daytime exercise is rare.

Vanillin was methylated to veratrol by dimethyl sulfate, then condensed with nitroethane to obtain 1- (2-nitropropenyl) -3', 4' -dimethoxybenzene, then reduced with iron powder and hydrolyzed to produce 3', 4' -dimethoxyphenylacetone (see 14945), and then DL-methyldopa was obtained by cyclization, ring-opening and hydrolysis. Methyldopa is obtained by separating out the levorotator.
