Medicinal White Vaseline Uses:
Because Vaseline is colorless, odorless, chemically inert, semi-solid, lipophilic, and has good adhesion, it is suitable for making bases such as hair care creams, hair conditioners, eye shadows, lipsticks, and pomades. Pharmaceutical Vaseline can be compatible with almost all drugs without changing the drugs, and can be used as the base of ointments and is widely used. Medicinal White Vaseline preparation method:
1. Acid-clay method The acid-clay method is a traditional vaseline production method, which is still in use at home and abroad. The process is to add sulfuric acid with a concentration of more than 98% into the reaction kettle and mix the raw materials according to about 60% of the raw material amount. The reaction temperature is kept at 70°C. After the reaction, the acid residue is separated and diluted with alcohol to further remove the acid residue. The acid-treated oil is then decolorized by adding clay at about 140°C in another clay refining tank, and then filtered to obtain the product. The characteristic of the acid-clay method is that it can produce high-quality products, the amount of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons can reach the level of pharmaceutical grade, and other related indicators can also meet the quality indicators of the Pharmacopoeia, which is the reason why this traditional process can exist for a long time. The main disadvantages of refining petroleum jelly with acid-clay are that the yield of the target product is too low (about 50%) and a large amount of unusable acid slag is generated, which seriously pollutes the environment and the production cost is very high.
2. Aluminum trichloride method In the 1960s, the aluminum trichloride method was used instead of the acid-clay method to produce vaseline. The specific process is as follows: After the raw materials are dehydrated, they are reacted with aluminum trichloride in a reactor at a reaction temperature of 130-140°C. After the reaction, the oil continues to be neutralized and precipitated with lye in the neutralization tank, and after the slag is removed, it is purified by white clay adsorption in the decolorization tank. The reaction temperature is about 120°C. The Vaseline prepared by the aluminum chloride method is higher than the target product yield of the acid-clay method, and the consumption index is reduced, but the quality is slightly worse than that of the vaseline prepared by the acid-clay method; the aluminum trichloride method and the medium pressure hydrogenation and high pressure Compared with the quality level of Vaseline produced by hydrogenation, there is a big gap in terms of color, transparency, and content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
3. Hydrogenation Hydrogenation Vaseline is a new process for the production of Vaseline, which is generally carried out at 10, 20 or 30MPa and lower liquid hourly space velocity in foreign countries. This process is to convert the useless components in the raw materials into effective components after reaction, so the product yield close to 100% can be obtained. However, the aluminum trichloride method or the acid-clay method turns the useless components into waste residues for removal, and the effective components are taken away by the slag removal, which reduces the product yield. Due to the product yield, the refining depth of the aluminum trichloride method or the acid-clay method is also limited, thereby limiting the further improvement of product quality. Therefore, the hydrogenation method to produce vaseline is superior to the acid-clay method and the aluminum chloride method in terms of product yield and quality.
