    Sulfamethazine sodium Powder is used for the following infections caused by susceptible organisms when the patient is unable to take them orally, e.g., acute simple lower urinary tract infections, acute otitis media, and soft tissue skin infections.

    Sulfamethazine (Sulfadimethyldiazine) is a sulfonamide anti-infective agent used in animal husbandry.

    Sulfamethazine sodium Powder is a sulfonamide antimicrobial agent, similar to sulfadiazine in antibacterial spectrum, with antibacterial effect against non-enzymatic Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Salmonella, Shigella and other Enterobacteriaceae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, and Haemophilus influenzae. However, the resistance of bacteria to this product has increased in recent years, especially Streptococcus spp. and Neisseria spp. and Enterobacteriaceae. Sulfonamides are broad-spectrum antibacterial agents, similar to p-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) in structure, which can competitively act with PABA on dihydrofolate synthase in bacteria, thus preventing PABA from synthesising the folic acid needed by bacteria as raw material, and reducing the amount of metabolically active tetrahydrofolate, which is necessary for the bacterial synthesis of purine, thymine nucleoside and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), thus inhibiting the growth and reproduction of bacteria.
