Pharmacological Effect of Gabapentin.
1. The mechanism of the anticonvulsant effect of gabapentin is not clear, but animal tests suggest that, similar to other marketed anticonvulsant drugs, gabapentin can suppress seizures.
The results of maximal electroshock test in mice and rats, benztetrazolium seizure test and other animal tests (such as hereditary epilepsy model, etc.) suggest that gabapentin has an antiepileptic effect, but the relevance of these epileptic models to human beings is not yet clear.
