Hydrocortisone Raw Materials Hydrocortisone Powder
Product Overview:
Hydrocortisone (HC), also known as cortisol and cortisol, is an important adrenal glucocorticoid, whose chemical name is 11β,17α,21-trihydroxypregna-4-ene-3,20-dione, and whose pharmacological action is to bind to its receptor by diffusive action on the target cell to form a steroid-receptor complex, and the activated steroid-receptor complex acts as an activator of gene transcription.

Hydrocortisone Raw Materials Hydrocortisone Powder Details
Hydrocortisone Powder Usage and Synthesis.
It is mainly used in the replacement therapy of hypoadrenocorticism and the treatment of congenital adrenocortical hyperplasia, also used in rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatic fever, gout, bronchial asthma, allergic diseases, and also used in the treatment of serious infections and anti-shock, etc. It is also used as a raw material in the preparation of several other important steroidal drugs.
Uses and functions of Hydrocortisone.
Glucocorticoids have four main effects: anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, antitoxic, and anti-shock.
The adrenal cortex secretes the main glucocorticoid, which is three times more anti-inflammatory than corticosterone.
Physiological Effect of Hydrocortisone.
(1) Anti-inflammatory effects: hydrocortisone reduces and prevents the inflammatory response of the body by reducing the permeability of the body's capillaries, stabilising the activity of the lysosomal membrane, and preventing the accumulation of leukocytes at the site of inflammation, etc., so as to achieve the effect of alleviating inflammation;
(2) Immunosuppressive effects: hydrocortisone prevents or inhibits cell-mediated immune responses by accelerating the apoptosis of lymphocytes in the organism and preventing the formation of mononuclear macrophages;
(3) Antiviral effects: bacterial endotoxin produced by bacteria can damage human cells, and hydrocortisone can counteract its damaging effects on the body and exert antiviral effects.
The effects of hydrocortisone are similar to those of dexamethasone, but the extent of its adverse effects is less severe than the latter. It is mainly used in the treatment of adrenocortical hyperplasia, but also in rheumatoid arthritis, antiviral and allergic diseases, and can be used in the treatment of serious infections and antishock therapy.
Product Method of Bulk Hydrocortisone Powder.
4-Pregnene-17a,21-diol-3,20-dione-21-acetate (acetate compound "S") was oxidised by microbial oxidation of pearhead mould (Absidia Orchidis 3.65), followed by extraction, isolation and refinement to give hydrocortisone in 44% yield.
