Monolaurin Raw Materials Powder CAS 142-18-7
Product Overview:
Glycerol laurate has no adverse effects on beneficial gut bacteria but affects only potentially pathogenic microorganisms and does not produce drug-resistant bacteria; therefore, the addition of glycerol laurate to swine feed may be an effective strategy for reducing influenza in sows and viral infections in piglets.

Monolaurin Raw Materials Powder CAS 142-18-7 Details
Monolaurin Powder Usage and Synthesis.
Glyceryl laurate is an antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal substance that destroys the outer membrane of microorganisms, thus killing them. Glyceryl laurate prevents infectious diseases such as influenza and protects against harmful bacteria in infants.
Coconut oil contains lauric acid, which is one of the raw materials used in the production of glyceryl laurate. Glycerol laurate is also effective in helping female monkeys avoid infection with the monkey immunodeficiency virus (SIV), which is expected to provide a new approach to preventing HIV infection in humans.
Uses and functions of Monolaurin.
Glyceryl laurate, also known as glycerolmonolaurate (GML), is an excellent food emulsifier and preservative, which was first screened out by Kabara et al. as a new type of safe and efficient antimicrobial agent, and was formally approved by the U.S. FDA in 1977 as a GRAS-type food additives.
Glyceryl laurate is not only an excellent emulsifier, but also a safe, efficient and broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent, and is not subject to pH limitations, and still has good antimicrobial effect under neutral or slightly alkaline conditions, especially suitable for application in the specialty oil industry.
Preparation of Monolaurin.
(1) Use the lower alcohol Na or lower alcohol potassium as catalyst, lauric acid lower alcohol ester and glycerol according to the molar ratio of 3:1 mixing, in the condition of 150-170 ℃ vacuum reaction 20-40h to obtain the crude product of glycerol ester of lauric acid;
(2) Use 40-50% of the weight of the crude fatty acid glycerol ester of lauric acid, aqueous citric acid solution with a mass fraction of 4%-10% to wash the crude fatty acid glycerol ester once, and then add 30%-50% of the weight of the crude fatty acid glycerol ester of lauric acid in hot water at 80-100 ° C, stirring well, and then static delamination, separating the upper layer of oil, and then use 80-100 ° C of hot water, water wash 3 times, and heat and decompression to remove the water;
(3) molecular distillation of the product of said step (2) at a temperature of 130-220 ℃ and a vacuum degree of 0.1-150 pa to obtain the product of glyceryl laurate.
