Ferrous Sulfate Usage and Synthesis.

Ferrous sulfate is an inorganic metal salt substance, which can be used as nutritional supplement (iron fortifier); fruit and vegetable coloring agent; it can also be used in the production of iron salts, iron oxide pigments, mordant, water purification agent, preservative, disinfectant and so on, and as anti-anemia drug in medicine.

Key Uses of Ferrous Sulfate Powder

1. Medical & Nutritional Use

• Iron Deficiency Anemia: Its most prominent medical application is as an oral iron supplement to treat and prevent iron deficiency anemia. It helps increase hemoglobin levels, allowing the blood to carry oxygen more effectively throughout the body.

Characteristic of Ferrous Sulfate.

Dull blue-green monoclinic crystalline powder or granules. Odorless, with a salty astringent taste. Weathering in dry air. Easily oxidized to brownish-yellow alkaline iron sulfate in humid air. 10% aqueous solution is acidic to litmus (Ph value about 3.7).

Heating to 70 ~ 73 ° C to lose 3 molecules of water, to 80 ~ 123 ° C to lose 6 molecules of water, to 156 ° C or more converted to alkaline iron sulfate. Freely soluble in water (1g/1.5ml, 25℃ or 1g/0.5ml boiling water). Insoluble in ethanol.
