Dew grass (2.5kg) was extracted with 75% ethanol by heating and refluxing, recovering the ethanol and obtaining the concentrate. Extracted with ethyl acetate, n-butanol;
The ethyl acetate extract was taken, and then chromatographed on an Al2O3 (neutral) column with a gradient elution of chloroform-methanol, and the chloroform-methanol (4:1) eluted portion was recrystallised from ethyl acetate-methanol to obtain compound 3 (200mg);
The 3:1 eluted portion was subjected to preparative thin layer chromatography (stationary phase: silica gel GF254;
Mobile phase: chloroform-methanol=5:1) to obtain compound 1 (10mg);
The methanol eluted portion was separated by preparative high performance liquid chromatography (ODS, methanol/water=31:69, detection at 242 nm) to obtain Turkestanone (5 mg).
